At the working meeting of Faculty Council, held on July 6, 2021, the University of Zagreb Faculty of Agriculture has decided to establish the Centre for Experimental Economics.

The Centre will focus on the application of experimental economics in the fields of agriculture, food and environment. It will help the Faculty of Agriculture to become the leading regional centre for experimental economics and management in the agri-food sector.

The Centre will enable to raise the level of scientific excellence and build technological capacity for conducting experimental economics research at the Faculty Agriculture Zagreb. The Centre will also help increase the research capacity of FAZ scholars, network with partner institutions, and improve faculty collaboration with the business sector, public administration, and the scientific community.

Economic experiments will be conducted at the Centre, aiming at solving managerial problems in agribusiness and agricultural policy problems for which classical economics does not provide good answers. The results of the research will primarily enable better management decisions and ultimately increase the competitiveness of the agri-food sector.

The users of the Centre’s services will be agri-food producers, state institutions, local governments, and interest groups from the agribusiness sector, as well as scientific and professional institutions.

The Centre will be integrated into the European Research Area (ERA), and local experts in Zagreb will cooperate with colleagues from Italy, Greece and Sweden.
